Day 1 CPT (Curriculum Practical Training)lets international students in the United States gain experience in their field of study right from the beginning of their graduate studies. However, this program is only offered by selected universities. Students may also apply for a Day 1 CPT University scholarship through their chosen school or an educational provider.

How to get a Day 1 CPT Universities scholarship

·         Check your eligibility

You will need to obtain an F1 visa before enrolling in a CPT course. To get an F1 visa, you can choose to apply for a Day1 CPTprogram at a universitydirectly or transfer your current F1 from another university to a Day 1 CPTuniversity.

In addition to the student visa, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

o    Be enrolled in a full-time academic program at a Day 1 CPT university

o    Participate in CPT that is required by your academic program and directly related to your field of study

o    Provide evidence of a valid CPT job offer

 

·         Find a Day 1 CPT university.

What’s great about Day 1 CPT is that you can start working as soon as your academic program starts. In comparison, standard CPT only begins after the completion of your first academic year.

So, which colleges and universities in the US offer Day 1 CPT? Some of the most notable institutions include Westcliff University, Monroe College, and New England College, among others.

When choosing a school, make sure you consider not only the availability of Day 1 CPT but also the academic programs offered. Additionally, look for an institution with proper accreditation.

·         Check if the university offers a scholarship program.

Lastly, and most importantly, ensure the school offers a Day 1 CPT University scholarship. Westcliff University, for example, provides financial aid for both new and existing students. The institution offers four types of scholarships:

o    The Distinguished scholarship is for students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and who show excellent potential during admissions.

o    The Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement Recognition (SOAR) is for outstanding students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

o    The Building Leaders for Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity (BLEND) for international students with a GPA of 3.25 or higher.

o    The Warrior Scholarship is for students with financial hardship and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.    

 

Other Day 1 CPT universities with scholarship programs include Harrisburg University, Trine University, and Monroe College.
